Selecting a Qualified Default Investment Alternative (QDIA)
Workforces are diverse—in how they invest, how they feel about risk and how they save. We believe one size doesn’t fit all in retirement planning, especially when it comes to selecting the QDIA for a plan. The following considerations were created to help during the evaluation process.
Managed accounts: A more personalized QDIA
As technology has improved and recordkeepers are able to automatically collect employee data, there is an opportunity to offer a personalized default service through a managed account.
When money is contributed to the plan without participant investment direction, it’s automatically invested in the QDIA that was selected by the plan fiduciary (typically the plan sponsor).

Better fees for the participant versus other options, inside or outside of the plan. None of the employers who provided responses were referencing Stadion’s managed account service.
